In 2008 the state of California launched a multi-channel campaign to debunk the 3000 mile oil change myth. The state created a website, banner ads and a concentrated PR campaign in an effort to inform motorists that un-necessary oil changes are bad for the economy and waste vehicle owners money.

This past month the L.A. Times printed a story that California is not giving up the fight.
